“An important goal of the project is to pay tribute to Doris Duke and the many other preservationists who have saved our city’s historic character. This project will provide the city with an asset which will create a more welcoming community space for local residents and tourists, as well as enhancing small businesses in the area. We feel that Queen Anne Square is a most appropriate site, as the creation of the original park was a gift from Doris Duke to the City of Newport.”
